The Conservation Districts of Iowa (CDI) and the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) along with USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) and USDA Farm Service Agency (FSA), will hold an informational meeting for landowners and operators who will be conducting Mid-Contract Management (MCM) on Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) acres. It is scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 26, at 10 am at the Perry public library, 1101 Willis Ave.
Landowners in Greene, Guthrie, Dallas and Boone counties with acres enrolled in CRP may be required to perform mid-contract management (MCM) practices on their CRP ground. This meeting will look at MCM requirements and using prescribed burning as a tool.
Representatives from NRCS, FSA, and the DNR will be available to answer MCM and prescribed burning questions. Assistance with prescribed burn plans will be available for those with upcoming management requirements. Pre-registration is recommended for those requiring burn plans in order to ensure adequate staff and your farm map is available.
For more information, questions, or to RSVP contact Chrissy Rhodes at the Guthrie County USDA NRCS office at 641-332-2812, Ext. 304 or by email at Chrissy.rhodes@dnr.iowa.gov. Deadline to register for burn plans if interested is Monday, Jan. 23. ~courtesy of The Scranton Journal
